MoveRecord

Move-in and move-out photos, side by side in one PDF

Add a photo of each spot when you move in and again when you move out, write what you see, and download a tidy report. It all happens in this browser tab.

  • No account and no upload: photos stay on your device.
  • Each item shows the move-in and move-out photo next to each other.
  • Notes print in full, in any language. A4 or US Letter.

How to use MoveRecord

  1. Name the spots Add one item per thing you want on record: a wall, the oven, the bathroom floor.
  2. Add photos One move-in and, later, one move-out photo per item. Either side can stay empty.
  3. Write short notes Say what the photo shows: “scratch 5 cm left of handle”, “no change”.
  4. Preview and download Check the pages, then save the PDF and a backup file before you close the tab.

Do the move-in half on the day you get the keys. Download a backup, keep it with your lease, and restore it when you move out to add the second photo for each item. The PDF puts the two photos of each item side by side with your notes under them.

What the report contains

  • Your report title, an optional home nickname, and the move-in and move-out dates you entered, labelled as entered by you.
  • For each item: its name, the move-in and move-out photo in their own frames (an empty side says “No photo supplied”), and every note in full. Long notes continue on the next page; nothing is cut off.
  • The number of items and photos, the date the PDF was made, page numbers, and a short notice explaining that photos are re-encoded copies and that the report is a personal record.

Limits, stated up front

  • Up to 20 items and 40 photos. Files up to 10 MB each and 100 MB in total; JPEG, PNG or WebP.
  • Each photo is turned upright and resized so its long side is at most 1600 pixels. That keeps the PDF small enough to email. Keep your original photo files too.
  • Item names are limited to 80 characters and notes to 1000 characters. Text over the limit is flagged, never silently shortened.
Photos go from your device into the browser, are re-encoded there, and come back to your device as a PDF. Nothing goes to a server. Your photoson your device This browser tabupright, resized, metadata left out PDF + backupsaved to your device No upload step: there is no server that receives photos.

Where it fits

Many rental guides suggest the same habit. Consumer Affairs Victoria, for example, tells renters to “take photos of pre-existing damage to support your notes” and to keep their copy of the condition report (Before you move into a rental property). MoveRecord helps with the photo and notes part. It does not replace the official condition report, inspection or signature steps used where you live.

Questions

Do I need an account or an app?

No. MoveRecord is a web page. There is no sign-up and nothing to install. It works in a current desktop or phone browser.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Photos and notes are processed by your browser on your device and are not sent to our server or any other service. The site itself is served by Cloudflare Pages, which, like any web host, sees ordinary page requests such as your IP address and browser type; it does not receive your photos or notes.

What happens if I close the tab?

The record is gone. Nothing is saved automatically, on purpose, so photos of your home do not linger in the browser. Download the PDF and a backup file before you close the tab. You can load the backup later with “Restore from backup”.

Which photo formats work?

JPEG, PNG and WebP, up to 10 MB per file, 40 photos per record (one move-in and one move-out photo for up to 20 items). HEIC/HEIF files are not read. On an iPhone you can share or export a JPEG copy, or set the camera to “Most Compatible”.

Does the PDF prove when a photo was taken?

No. MoveRecord does not read or print photo dates, and it does not prove that a photo is genuine or unedited. The move-in and move-out dates in the report are the dates you type in, and the report says so. The generation date shows only when the PDF was made.

Is camera location data removed?

Each photo is redrawn and saved as a new JPEG, which does not carry the original camera metadata such as GPS position, camera model or capture time. Anything visible in the picture itself, such as a street number, a name on a letter or a face, stays in the picture.

Can I search the text inside the PDF?

No. Each page is drawn in your browser and saved as an image, so long notes and any language print exactly as previewed. The trade-off is that the PDF text cannot be searched or selected.

Can my landlord or agent open the PDF?

Yes. It is a standard PDF that opens in any PDF reader. How it is used in a tenancy is up to the people involved and the rules where you live; MoveRecord does not replace an official condition report form.
